Science of repression- False convictions through DNA forensics
Crisis mirror invites you to a discussion about politics and forensics. The event will take place on Wednesday 15th of November at 19:00 @ Kapelevej 44.
Last June, Irianna – a 29-year old PhD student – was convicted in the court of Greece for participation in a terrorist organization. The only evidence on which the court based this decision was a poor and of low quality DNA sample, as well as her personal relationship with the leftist milieu.
We use this case as a departing point, to discuss how the use of modern forensics to sentence individuals in Europe is escalating, in a framework of a state-mediated terrorism with the aim of repressing any opposing voice.
